After 28 years as a Partner at Unity Health practice, Dr John Lethem will be retiring on 1 September 2017.
As many patients will remember, John’s father worked at our Hull Road surgery from 1957 and John joined him in February 1989, shortly before his father retired. So together they have clocked up 60 years at the practice. This is a wonderful accomplishment and he will be sorely missed by staff, patients and all those who came into contact with him at the practice over the years.
When Dr Lethem joined the practice, there were 6,500 patients. We now have around 24,000 patients and continue to grow. He has treated and cared for generations of local residents, families and students over the last 28 years. Born and bred in York, Dr Lethem says he has thoroughly enjoyed his time at the practice and will miss the warmth and generosity of all his patients.
“It has genuinely been a privilege to be able to do the best I can for my patients. I have always tried to offer a holistic style of care and attention – tending to listen, rather than talk.
“I’ve enjoyed both the family medicine and student health, as here at Unity Health we have the advantage of practicing a wide variety of medicine. It is the contact with patients and the dedicated team of staff which I will miss the most, but I hope to keep up to date with the progress of the practice as it grows.”
I have every confidence that the practice will continue to thrive and be successful and I look forward to watching it grow,” said Dr Lethem.
